The Effect of Structural Parameters on the Electronic States and Oscillator Strength of a Resonant Tunneling Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector
In this paper a resonant tunnelling quantum well infrared photodetector (RT-QWIP) is discussed. Each period of this photodetector structure comprises of a resonant tunnelling structure (AlAs/AlGaAs/AlAs) nearby a quantum well (AlGaAs/GaAs). In this photodetector, photocurrent is produced when an electron makes a transition from the ground state of the well to an excited state which is coupled t...

متن کاملEvidence for resonant tunneling of magnetization in Mn12 acetate complex
We have measured the dc magnetization at low temperatures of tetragonal crystals of Mn12 acetate complex @Mn12O12~CH3COO!16~H2O!4#, a material composed of a large ~Avogadro’s! number of identical magnetic molecules, each of spin 10. Exchange coupling between Mn ions within each molecule is very strong, while the interaction between molecules is negligible. A large, uniaxial anisotropy ~;60 K! g...
متن کاملResonant Zener Tunneling of Electrons across the Band-gap between Bound States in the Valence- and Conduction-band Quantum Wells in a Multiple Quantum-well Structure
We report the observation of resonant tunneling effects a t high applied fields in a multiple quantum-well P-I-N diode. The A10,81no,5,As/Gao,4,1no,53As structure shows features in the dark current due to Zener tunneling of electrons from the lowest sub-band in a valence-band quantum well to the first and second sub-bands of an adjacent conduction-band well.
متن کاملBand-gap tunneling states in DNA.
An important issue regarding DNA electrical conductivity is the electron (hole) transfer rate. Experiments have found that this transfer rate involves quantum mechanical tunneling for short distances and thermally activated hopping over large distances. The electron (or hole) tunneling probability through a molecule depends on the length of molecule L, as e(-beta(E)L), where the tunneling betaE...
